Travis Perkins & Wickes Wireless Warehouse System
Travis Perkins is a leading company in the Builders' Merchanting and Home Improvement markets. The company supplies building materials, timber, plumbing & heating, kitchens, bathrooms, landscaping materials and tool hire, together with a wide range of services including it's trade-dedicated website.
Travis Perkins and Wickes, the DIY superstore have recently merged and now share distribution to serve over
1000 outlets in the UK.
Project Background
Travis Perkins selected Jade in April 2005 and we have supplied a range of products and services to both Travis
Perkins and Wickes since this time. Our engineers have supplied and installed Motorola hand held terminals and RF
wireless switch equipment into the vast majority of Travis Perkins branches allowing them to more efficiently 
meet
the needs of their customers.
In the early part of 2006 Jade were awarded a project to carry out a technology refresh of both the Travis Perkins
and Wickes Distribution Centres located throughout the UK. This involved the supply and installation of structured
cabling, network equipment, Motorola RF wireless infrastructure and the replacement of fork lift truck mounted
and hand held terminals. To date, Jade have completed projects in Wakefield, Northampton and Hemel Hempstead
distribution centres.
In 2008, Jade were awarded another project to refresh the wireless infrastructure and handheld terminals as part of Travis Perkins' commitment to PCI DSS compliance and enhancing the the wireless security throughout their Nether Heyford distribution centre.
Now and Next
Jade were recently awarded the contract to repair and maintain all installed
Motorola hand held computers, truck mount terminals and RF equipment; a total of 600 devices
located in Travis Perkins Branches, Travis Perkins & Wickes distribution centres.
